Achromycin: Side Effects

As with any medicine, there are possible side effects with Achromycin. However, not everyone who takes Achromycin will experience side effects. When people do develop side effects to Achromycin, the effects are usually minor and either require no treatment or can easily be treated by a healthcare professional.
 
Common side effects of Achromycin include, but are not limited to:
 
  • Nausea
  • Diarrhea
  • Vomiting
  • Skin reaction to sunlight (photosensitivity)
  • Upset stomach (dyspepsia)
  • Unexplained rash
  • Loss of appetite
  • Headache
  • Dizziness
  • Fatigue
  • Itchy skin.
     
There are also a number of less common but more serious side effects that can occur. These include, but are not limited to:
 
  • Watery diarrhea
  • Stomach cramps
  • Bloody stools
  • Unusual headaches
  • Blurred vision
  • Unexplained rash
  • Joint pain
  • Fever
  • Feeling tired.
     
If you experience any of these side effects, stop taking the Achromycin and call your healthcare provider.

Achromycin: Drug Interactions

There are a number of medicines that can interact with Achromycin. Some of these medicines include:
 
  • Warfarin (Coumadin®, Jantoven®)
  • Aluminum, calcium, magnesium, or iron products (such as antacids, iron supplements, calcium supplements, laxatives, and multivitamins)
  • Penicillin
  • Oral contraceptives
  • Methoxyflurane (Penthrane®).
     
There are also a number of other medicines that Achromycin may interact with.
