Aztreonam Injection

What If I Miss a Dose of Aztreonam Injection?

If you miss your usual dose of aztreonam injection, contact your healthcare provider right away for instructions on what to do. It is very important to try and take this medication as prescribed. Missing doses could increase the chance of developing an infection that is resistant to antibiotic treatment.

Is There a Generic Version?

This medication is available in generic form (see Generic Azactam).

Who Makes Aztreonam Injection?

Aztreonam injection comes in two forms -- as a powder that must be mixed with an appropriate liquid and as a premixed solution. Regular Azactam powder is made by Bristol Myers Squib Company. Premixed Azactam in plastic containers is made by Baxter Healthcare Corporation for Bristol Myers Squib Company.

Neither of these medications is protected by patents. However, only Azactam in powder form is currently available as a generic. Generic Azactam is made by APP Pharmaceutical, a division of Fresenius Kabi USA, and by Bedford Laboratories.
