In children, the most commonly reported bothersome side effects of aztreonam injection include:
  • Pain at the IV injection site -- in up to 12 percent of children
  • Rash -- up to 4.3 percent
  • Redness at the IV injection site -- up to 2.9 percent
  • Swelling of the vein at the IV injection site -- up to 2.1 percent
  • Diarrhea -- up to 1.4 percent
  • Fever -- up to 1 percent.
