Bactroban Antibiotic Information

The prescription antibiotic Bactroban® (mupirocin) is used to treat several different bacterial infections, such as impetigo and methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA). This medicine is particularly useful during MRSA outbreaks. It is used to help clear this bacteria from the nasal passages, which can help minimize the spread of disease. Bactroban comes in three different forms: skin ointment, skin cream, and nasal ointment.

To help ensure a safe treatment process with Bactroban, your healthcare provider needs complete information on your medical history, including any other conditions you may have and if you are taking any other medications (including vitamins or supplements). This will help him or her decide if the antibiotic is right for you.
