Cipro Antibiotic Information
Cipro® (ciprofloxacin) is available only by prescription and is approved for treating certain bacterial infections, including pneumonia, bronchitis, and urinary tract infections (bladder infections). This antibiotic is not appropriate for everyone; your healthcare provider needs complete information on your medical history and what medicines you are taking before prescribing Cipro.
Although many people do not have any problems while taking this antibiotic, Cipro can cause side effects, such as nausea, diarrhea, and vomiting. If negative reactions do occur, they tend to be mild and easily treated.
Cipro comes in several forms, including tablets, an oral liquid suspension, and an intravenous (IV) solution. It is usually taken twice a day. It is important to take your entire course of this medication, as stopping Cipro too soon may cause your infection to return.
