Ofloxacin Antibiotic Information

Ofloxacin is used in the treatment of several different bacterial infections, such as prostatitis, pneumonia, bronchitis, and pelvic inflammatory disease. Because it is an antibiotic, ofloxacin is not used to treat viral infections, such as the common cold. The medicine comes in various forms, including tablets, eye drops, and ear drops.

Prior to beginning treatment with ofloxacin, inform your healthcare provider about any other medications you are taking (including supplements and nonprescription products), as well as any other medical conditions you have. This antibiotic is not right for people with liver or kidney disease, for example, and can react with several other drugs. Having this information will help your healthcare provider plan appropriate treatment.
