Who Should Not Take Ceftriaxone?

The following people should not take ceftriaxone:
 
  • People who are allergic to ceftriaxone, Rocephin, related medications (such as Omnicef® or Keflex®), or any inactive ingredients used in making ceftriaxone. Your healthcare provider or pharmacist has a list of the inactive ingredients in ceftriaxone.
     
  • Newborns (especially if they are premature) with extremely high levels of bilirubin. Jaundice may be a sign of high levels of bilirubin.
