Ceftriaxone UsesThe two most common ceftriaxone uses are treating bacterial infections and preventing infection during surgery. Ceftriaxone is commonly used to treat things like skin infections, bone infections (osteomyelitis), and middle ear infections (otitis media). Ceftriaxone is not effective against viral infections. Off-label ceftriaxone uses include treating Lyme disease, epididymitis, and shigellosis.
