Cipro® (ciprofloxacin) is a prescription drug commonly used for the treatment of various bacterial infections. Specifically, some of the approved uses (or "indications") for Cipro include the treatment of infections such as:
- Kidney infections
- Sinus infections
- Typhoid fever
- Urinary tract infections (UTIs), commonly called "bladder infections."
Cipro is also approved to prevent infections or worsening of infections after exposure to inhaled anthrax in adults and children.
In some cases, healthcare providers may occasionally recommend medications for "off-label" reasons. Some of the possible off-label (unapproved) uses for Cipro include treating other infections caused by susceptible bacteria.
