What Is Cipro For?
If you have a bacterial infection, your healthcare provider may prescribe Cipro® (ciprofloxacin). Specifically, Cipro is used for treating infections such as:
- Kidney infections
- Sinus infections
- Typhoid fever
- Urinary tract infections (UTIs), commonly called "bladder infections."
Cipro is also approved to prevent infections or worsening of infections after exposure to inhaled anthrax in adults and children.
On occasion, a healthcare provider may prescribe Cipro for "off-label" (unapproved) reasons. Possible off-label uses of Cipro include treating other infections caused by susceptible bacteria.
