What Is Cipro For?

If you have a bacterial infection, your healthcare provider may prescribe Cipro® (ciprofloxacin). Specifically, Cipro is used for treating infections such as:
 
Cipro is also approved to prevent infections or worsening of infections after exposure to inhaled anthrax in adults and children.
 
On occasion, a healthcare provider may prescribe Cipro for "off-label" (unapproved) reasons. Possible off-label uses of Cipro include treating other infections caused by susceptible bacteria.
