Clarithromycin (Biaxin®) is a medication approved for the treatment of various types of infections. It is available by prescription only and comes in numerous forms, including immediate-release tablets, extended-release tablets, and as an oral suspension. Before your healthcare provider prescribes you this antibiotic, make sure he or she is aware of any other medical conditions you may have and any other medications you are taking, including vitamins and herbal supplements. Potential side effects of clarithromycin include indigestion, nausea, and diarrhea.
