Who Should Not Take Clarithromycin?

You should not take clarithromycin if you:
 
  • Are allergic to Biaxin, clarithromycin, or any of the inactive components used to make the medication. Your healthcare provider or pharmacist has a list of the inactive ingredients. You should not take clarithromycin if you have had an allergic reaction to any other macrolide antibiotic, such as erythromycin (Ery-Tab®).

 

  • Have had liver problems with clarithromycin in the past. 

 

  • Take any of the following medications:
