General Information on Using MefoxinSome considerations to keep in mind during treatment with Mefoxin include the following:
- This medication is given intravenously (by IV), usually three to six times a day, depending on various factors. It might be given less often in people with kidney disease.
- Sometimes, the very first dose is higher (this is a "loading" dose) and subsequent doses will be lower.
- This antibiotic is often given for a few days after the infection has cleared up. For serious infections, an even longer treatment may be recommended.
- If you are unsure about anything related to your dosage or Mefoxin dosing in general, please talk to your healthcare provider or pharmacist.
