Moxifloxacin Side Effects
Common Moxifloxacin Side Effects
Moxifloxacin has been studied thoroughly in clinical trials. In these studies, the side effects that occurred in a group of people taking moxifloxacin were documented and compared to side effects that occurred in a similar group of people taking a different antibiotic. This way, it is possible to see what side effects occurred, how often they appeared, and how they compare to the group taking a different medication.
In these studies, the most common side effects of moxifloxacin included:
- Nausea -- in up to 6 percent of people
- Diarrhea -- up to 5 percent
- Dizziness -- up to 2 percent.
Tare moxifloxacin side effects occur in less than 1 percent of people taking the drug. Because these side effects are so uncommon, it is difficult to tell whether they are actually caused by moxifloxacin or other factors.
These rare side effects include but are not limited to:
- Abdominal pain (stomach pain)
- Yeast infection
- Indigestion or heartburn
- Dry mouth
- Canker sores
- Taste changes.
You may experience some or none of the moxifloxacin side effects listed in this article. Unfortunately, there is no way for your healthcare provider to know beforehand if you will have side effects from a medicine that you have never tried. Therefore, make sure to let your healthcare provider know if you develop any side effects while taking the drug or if something "just does not seem right." While it may not be a side effect of moxifloxacin, your healthcare provider will be able to diagnose and treat the problem.
