Complications of MRSA

Specific Complications of a MRSA Infection

MRSA can invade many areas of the body, not just the skin. Some of the most common areas affected (and the types of infections caused) include the:

  • Lungs (pneumonia)
  • Bloodstream (bacteremia or septicemia)
  • Soft tissue (cellulitis)
  • Bone (osteomyelitis)
  • Inner lining of the heart (endocarditis).

Other, less common types of infections have also been reported with MRSA.
