Otherwise known as methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus, MRSA is a bacterial infection that is spread by direct skin-to-skin contact with an infected person or by touching a contaminated surface. Anyone can be at risk for this type of infection. However, these infections do appear to occur more often in certain settings, such as schools, dormitories, military barracks, households, correctional facilities, and daycare centers.
