Ofloxacin is a prescription antibiotic that belongs to a group of medications called fluoroquinolones, or "quinolones" for short. It is an active ingredient in several different prescription products and is used to treat a variety of infections. Ofloxacin is available as a tablet, an otic solution for the ear, and an ophthalmic solution for the eye.
Are There Side Effects?
Just like any medicine, ofloxacin can cause side effects.
However, not everyone who takes the medication will experience problems. In fact, most people tolerate it quite well.
If side effects do occur, in most cases, they are minor and either require no treatment or are treated easily by you or your healthcare provider. Serious reactions are less common.
Side effects of ofloxacin vary, depending on the type of product used. Commonly reported reactions include but are not limited to:

- Headache
- Insomnia
- Dizziness
- Diarrhea
- Vaginal yeast infection and itching
- Ear discomfort and itching when using the ear drops
- Eye burning, stinging, redness, or discomfort when using the eye drops.
