Rifampin Side Effects

Some of the possible side effects with rifampin include heartburn, vomiting, and diarrhea. There are also some potentially serious reactions associated with rifampin, such as fever, seizures, or bloody diarrhea, which require urgent medical treatment. Because rifampin is an older medication, there is no specific information on how often certain side effects may occur.

An Introduction to Side Effects of Rifampin

As with any medicine, rifampin (Rifadin®) can cause side effects. However, not everyone who uses the medication will have problems. In fact, most people tolerate it quite well. If side effects do occur, in most cases, they are minor and either require no treatment or are treated easily by you or your healthcare provider.
